BACKGROUND:

The pasilla chile or chile negro is the dried form of the chilaca chili pepper. It is a long and narrow member of species Capsicum annuum. Named for its dark, wrinkled skin (literally "little raisin"), it is a mild to hot, rich-flavored chile. Pepper pods turn from dark green to dark brown when fully mature .

 

The flavor of this chili pepper is mild and are used especially in sauces. They are often combined with fruits and are excellent served with duck, seafood, lamb, mushrooms, garlic, fennel, honey, or oregano.

Throughout the year, we offer the Pasilla Negro pepper in three different ways:

 

Dried - Our freshly picked peppers are dried, sliced and sealed in 0.5 oz packaging. It typically includes 3 -4 pepper pods. 

 

Seedlings - Offered during the spring and summer months, we will ship to you established seedlings that are ready for planting. The pepper plants typically willl grow to about 3 ft tall and are ready for harvesting in  in 75 days. Pasilla pepper pods are typically 4 to 7 inches long by 1 inches wide. They have a medium thick flesh and matures from bright green to finished color.

 

Seeds - Offered year round, we will ship to you a minimum of 25 seeds harvested from our pods grown in our gre
